Hinds “Mr. Basketball Westchester”

Congrats goes out to Mt Vernon’s JABARIE HINDS (West Virginia) for being selected as Mr. Basketball inWestchester 2011. Jabarie has achieved a rare back to back selection joining Elton Brand (Peekskill/76ers)and Ben Gordan (Mt. V/ Pistons) as the only repeat winners. Jabarie also was selected as a top 4 nomination for Mr. Basketball in New York this week. Jabarie’s team is in the midst of of another Section 1 “AA” title this week. Jabarie has also been selected to play in the Capital Classic in DC in April. Congrats to Jabarie and good luck this week in playoffs. A thousand thousand

Conroy Baltimore '10

Few people in the history of Westchester basketball have achieved what this special player has achieved. CONROY BALTIMORE (Lehigh U.) of STEPINAC HS acheived the unthinkable this year….he goes into the CHSAA “A” Playoffs this week with a staggering 1000+pts and 1000+rebounds for his career at Stepinac. Congrats goes out to CROY on his amazing achievement and good luck in the playoff run. Stepinac is the defenidning CHSAA “A” City Champions. Pope named 1st Team Tri-County

Congrats goes out to White Plains HS Senior 2G Lawrence Pope for being named 1st Team Tri-County this season. Pope joined Jabarie Hinds (Mr. Basketball), New Ro’s PJ Torres, Horace Greeley’s Matt Townsend, Pearl River’s Luke Houston and Peekskill’s Shaine Carter.
White Plains is seeded 8th for sectionals and plays next week vs Suffern at home.
White Plains beat Suffern in a thriller as Pope went for 14pts. They play Tuesday at Poughkeepsie for the right to go to the County Center.

Calhoun driving #1 Northwood U.

TEAM FRENJI Alumni 5’9 Senior PG MELVIN CALHOUN (Port Chester HS) of Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Florida is driving the Seahawks towards a NAIA Championship. Right now, the Senior Captain has his squad #1 in the Nation according to http://www.naia.org. The squad is 26-2 and boasts a 18 game winning streak. Porky is averaging 7 ppg and 6 assists for the team along with 2.3 steals per game. This past Saturday at Northwood, Porky along with 3 other senior teammates were honored for Senior night with plaques for their families. Porky followed that game up with Mondays away game with 22 pts and 5 assists. The senior is determined to win it all for his Hall of Fame Head Coach Rollie Massimino. Kilpatrick Big East Rookie of the Week

TEAM FRENJI Alumni 6’5 2G SEAN KILPATRICK (White Plains HS) of the U of Cincinnati has been named Big East Rookie of the Week for the 2nd time this season. 2011 CYP Dates

The 65th Annual CYP Tourney has been announced….the dates are March 23-30th, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Church located on 21 Spring Street in Port Chester, NY. Game times are 7 & 8:15pm. Call Joe Bellofatto for the schedule of games at (914) 939-4514. Team Frenji is the defending champion and will receive a 1st round bye. Check back here for when we play and the roster.
