Youngsters put on a Show

Team Frenji Grassroots players

TEAM FRENJI Grassroots Players were able to show what they could prior to the holiday weekend on a college court.
Coach Carter put together 12 youngsters  from grades 7th to 9th to play in an exhibition game vs Da Fam from Brideport, CT prior to the 105.1 Celebrity Game at Westchester Community College  hosted by DJ Suss One. On hand were the WCC players and coaches, a crowd of 500 people plus and celebrities from the hip hop music, fashion and entertainment world. Listed are the players who played.
Donovan Mitchell, Ellis Christmas, Najee Khan, Ross Joseph, Lou Tucker, Jair Bolden, Thomas Holley, Branden Augburne, Elijah Wilson, Ty Jerome & Eric Paschall. Great job guys!!!!

Kilpatrick:Big East Rookie of the Week

 University of Cincinnati redshirt freshman Sean Kilpatrick (White Plains, N.Y./Notre Dame Prep) won the BIG EAST Conference’s first league player of the week honor today (Nov. 22) after leading UC to a pair of opening wins over Mount St. Mary’s (69-59) and IPFW (65-59).

Kilpatrick scored ,34 points during the week, including 21 points in his collegiate debut vs. The Mount on Nov. 15. He shot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the field, including 5-for-11 (.455) from 3-point range. Defensively, Kilpatrick posted a pair of steals in each game.

Last season UC players earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week five times as Lance Stephenson won the honor four times and Cashmere Wright claimed it once.

The Bearcats (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) open up the second week of the play Monday, Nov. 22 vs. Florida A&M (2-1, 0-0 MEAC) at 7 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.

Juniors Blazing!

TEAM FRENJI Alumni’s TONY TAYLOR (GW), KENNY HORTON (C. Conn St.) & GREG AVILA (U of District Columbia) have begun their junior collegiate seasons blazing Hot! Both Taylor (21ppg & 5apg) and Horton (20ppg & 7rpg) are averaging 20ppg and Avila is averaging 18ppg & 7rpg. All of them will be playing at some point this year close to home. Taylor @ Fordham, Horton @ St Francis-NY or FDU and Avila @ Clarion U. Check out their individual season here exclusively.

Staubi invited to Adidas National Camp

TEAM FRENJI 15U Freshmen PG MATT STAUBI of Rye Country Day School, has been invited back to the Adidas National Phenom Camp this summer again in San Diego, CA. Last year Matt was the 7th best point guard in the 8th grade class and made the All Star Game. He was ranked 18th best player in the entire camp. Congrats to Matt and good luck this year @ RCDS. Live from West Palm Beach

TEAM FRENJI Alumni and Senior Captain at Northwood University, 5’8 PG Melvin Calhoun, started his last collegiate season off with a bang tonight. Porky went a perfect 3-3 (3-3 from 3pt range) from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line to finish with 14pts and 7assists to go along with 3steals. Unfortunately his Seahawks squad was unable to hold off their opponents, Winona State as they fell 88-84 in front of a capacity crowd. Northwood opened the season ranked 12th in the nation for NAIA Division 1. Porky and his teammates will be back in action again on Friday 11/19 vs Trinity College. Also, Porky will be starting his own diary page for his final year at Northwood. Pictures, web links and quotes will be added along in the diary weekly tohelp give you an in depth look into the life of a senior point guard.

Kilpatrick’s college debut

TEAM FRENJI Alumni 6’5 2G SEAN KILPATRICK made his long awaited college debut tonight and helped his Cincinnati Bearcat team beat Mt St Marys 69-59. SK poured in 21pts – 3rebs – 2stls in 24 minutes of action. The squad is back in action again this Sunday 11/20. We caught up with SK tonight and he said he was just really focused on being aggressive and getting the first official game under his belt. Now he can set his sights on having an impact season for the Bearcats. Best of luck SK!!!

Andre Pope (St Rose) Averaging 16.5ppg thru 2 games.

Greg Avila (U of District of Columbia) Had 17pts & 7rebs in debut for the Firebirds.

Rishawn Johnson (Post U.) Had 10pts 6rebs in season opener.
Aleek Pauline (Norfolk St.) Had 10pts, 7assts & 7 rebs in opener vs LIU.
